Am I Required to Get a DOG License for My Basenji?

In almost all places, it is required by law that you license your basenji. However, the exact rules do vary based on where you live. For instance, many places not only require that you get your basenji licensed every year, but they also require that you actually keep the license tag on your basenji all the time.

Barbara Bush wrote "Millie's Book", a book about her English Springer Spaniel, Millie. The book was an instant success. It was on the bestseller list for 29 weeks. Millie was the most popular "First Dog" in United States history.

Also, in some areas the licensing fee can vary based on a number of factors. In some areas, if the basenji is permanently marked with a tattoo or a micro-chip, you can obtain a license that is valid for the basenji's lifetime, rather than renewing yearly. Other things that can greatly affect the license cost include whether the basenji is a service or guide DOG, whether the basenji is spayed or neutered and whether the owner's income is below a certain amount. Also, some areas offer a multi-dog discount for owners that have several DOGS.

Bulldogs have unusually large heads. In fact, due to the way in which they've been bred, bulldogs have trouble delivering young. All bulldog puppies are delivered by caeserean section now. The mothers can't deliver the heads naturally.

The purpose of getting a license for your basenji is simple. It helps animal control officers, or other people that may find your basenji when it is lost, to return the basenji to you. Unlicensed DOGS are much more likely to be put to sleep by animal control. Many owners are now getting their basenjis micro-chipped, but licenses are still a requirement for the simple reason that some vets and shelters do not have access to a micro-chip scanner.

There is absolutely no difference between an Australian silky terrier, silky toy terrier and a silky terrier. They are all the same breed, but have different names in different countries, specifically in Australia, Canada and the United States.

Obviously it is impossible for DOG licensing laws to be enforced on every single DOG and owner all the time. As a result, if you decide not to license your basenji, it is possible that you may not get caught. However, if your basenji is somehow detected by officials as unlicensed, you will be required to pay high fines.

According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the smallest dog on record was a yorkshire terrier in Great Britain who, at the age of 2, weighed just 4 ounces. However, the chihuahua is generally the smallest breed of dog.

So, not only is it legally required for a basenji to be licensed in most places, but it's in the owner's and the basenjis best interest because it helps to protect the basenji from getting permanently lost.

West highland white terriers began their history as the undesirable white offspring of the dark-colored cairn terrier. With the dog's popularity today, it is hard to believe that the early westies were usually drowned or shot.
