Basenji Halloween Costume Do's and Dont's

Halloween is an enchanting day where even basenjis can join in the fun. Despite the festivities of the day, keeping a canine safe is mission critical. Use the following safety precautions to assure the safety of your basenji:

The tibetan terrier is not a true terrier and is probably more closely related to the lhasa apso. However, the tibetan terrier is indeed from Tibet, where monks once treasured this intelligent breed of dogs as guardians of their temples.

If your basenji must wear a costume, use the following tips in its Halloween attire:

Barbara Bush wrote "Millie's Book", a book about her English Springer Spaniel, Millie. The book was an instant success. It was on the bestseller list for 29 weeks. Millie was the most popular "First Dog" in United States history.

Opt for safe and annoying free costumes that allow for easy movement A costume should not inhibit your basenji's ability to breathe and bark The costume should not obstructs his or her vision Dogs should never be left without supervision in a costume

The greyhound is the fastest breed of dog. It is capable of running at speeds of around 45 miles per hour. Greyhounds are excellent for hunting and racing, but they are notorious for laziness, often preferring to cuddle on a couch, rather than run. This makes them an ideal house pet.

Always monitor your basenji for bitten pieces of the costume that may trigger choking (in example: buttons, elastic, paper rubber bands, or other materials) Affix reflective tape onto basenji's costume if you will be out after dark Never leave your basenji unsupervised in a costume.

The German Shepherd Dog is also known as the Alsatian, or Deutsche Schaferhund. Rin Tin Tin, probably the most famous American German Shepherd, was actually born in France in September of 1918 and then brought to America later.

As cute as the idea of taking your basenji to trick or treat with the family may be, the event can trigger anxiety or fear. To avoid any potential negative encounters, keep a leash on him and be mindful of anything they try to eat during the Halloween stroll. To minimize any anxiety or fear in your basenji, keep pets away of boisterous children and walk them before the Halloween festivities get underway

The Papillon is a small dog breed with distinctive large, fringed ears that earned it its name, the French word for butterfly. The Papillon is believed to be one of the oldest of the toy breeds.

The most socially oriented basenjis may not be ready for the entourage of children during trick-or-treating hours. To prevent any unforeseen situations, keep your basenji in a separate room. For starters, the rampant traffic of strangers may overwhelm a basenji. Not to mention, some children are afraid of DOGS and other pets. Finally, if your basenji breaks free, make sure he or she is wearing a collar with an ID tag or other proper identification.

The greater swiss mountain dog, or swissy, is believed to be a direct descendant of the ancient tibetan mastiff. A versatile dog, the swissy traditionally drove cattle, guarded property, protected human companions and fought in wars.
