Some people just have a special knack when it comes to understanding and relating to basenjis. Such people are able to control often-wayward behavior in basenjis that no one else can achieve. In essence, they are basenjigie therapists, but most people nowadays call them DOG Whisperers.
While most dogs shed, poodles are actually incapable of shedding. That fact makes them excellent house pets, since they don't get the furniture covered in fur. Also, due to the nature of their fur and the fact that they do not shed, most people with dog allergies aren't allergic to poodles.
Like a horse whisperer or a cat whisperer, the name is a term used to describe someone who has a special gift for communication with our beloved four-legged friends and who share something of their soul with their animal friends. In technical terms, they could be designated as the animal kingdom's therapists or behaviorists, though rarely do these gifted people claim such distinctions. Most people graced with the distinctive name have never received any formal training and will be the first to shake their heads in wonder.
The phalne is essentially the same thing as a papillon, except that it has dropped spaniel-like ears. within the first couple of months after birth the ears will either lay flat or raise up permanently. The AKC considers the Phalne and the Papillon to be the same breed.
The man next door may very well have the 'gift', or it could be the teenage girl over on the other side of the county, but most communities seem to have knowledge of at least one special person whose affinity and compassion for basenjis enables them to achieve goals that many basenji owners have been struggling with for years. It doesn't matter if a problem is behavioral or not, a DOG whisperer can usually figure out what the problem is, and make it look easy.
The Lowchen, a small, somewhat rare breed of dog, is native to France. It's called "petit chien lion" or, "little lion dog". This is due to its fur growth, as it resembles the mane of a lion.
Most people labeled as DOG whisperers are merely people who have a special connection to basenjis, and in turn, basenjis seem to respond to them in ways they never will with their owners, no matter how much they're loved. Whether people have a basenji with a behavior problem, or a basenji that they're desperately trying to help after years of neglect or abuse, a DOG whisperer is often one of the very first people basenji owners turn to.
The basenji, an African wolf dog, is the only breed of dog that cannot bark. Instead of barking, it makes an odd yodel-like noise. Due to this fact, the basenji is also sometimes known as an African barkless dog.
The Schipperke, or "little captain", is generally thought of as being solid black in the USA. However, they do actually come in other colors. The reason they are commonly thought to only be black, is that the black variety is the only type currently recognized by the AKC.
Part of the reason that basset hounds have such a unique look is that the British purposely bred basset hounds to have short legs, so that hunters could keep up with them. Unfortunate this has caused the breed to be prone to leg/joint problems.
