Where to Get a Basenji License

Whether you purchase a puppy or DOG for the first time, or your basenji has had puppies that you intend to keep, a DOG license for them is a must. Most states require all basenjis to be licensed and vaccinated against animal diseases like rabies and parvovirus, and many basenji owners vaccinate their basenjis against worms and other diseases as well.

The basenji could really be considered more like a cat than a dog. Not only is it the only breed of dog that does not bark, but is also a meticulous cleaner. Unlike other dogs, the basenji actually licks itself clean, just like a cat!

In most towns and communities, a DOG license can be obtained from local animal control locations such as humane societies, DOG pounds and the like. To find out who provides such services within your community, call your local animal control agency or ask your veterinarian.

Most adult Borzoi (russian wolfhounds) are almost mute. They bark only very rarely. They are gentle, sensitive dogs with gracious house-manners and a natural respect for humans. Their quiet nature makes them an ideal pet for families with children.

Some cities and towns offer DOG licensing at animal shelters and animal control locations, as well as City Hall departments, including the Department of Finance, so the best bet might be to call your local city government and save yourself some hassle. The cost of a DOG license will vary according to location as well, as will the number of DOGS you will be allowed to keep on your property. Some city governments limit the number of DOGS per family residence to two or three, while others allow up to five or six.

Many people will swear that they own a golden labrador. The problem is that golden labradors do not exist! There is no purebred dog called a golden lab. The dog is probably either a golden retriever or a labrador retriever.

To obtain a DOG license, you will have to show proof that your basenji has been vaccinated against rabies. This will be shown on a form your vet will provide you with. Along with the form, you will need to pay a license fee. In many cities across the nation, this process can be completed through the mail. Keep in mind that licenses for spayed or neutered basenjis usually cost less. Also be aware that you may have to pay a fine if you don't properly license your basenji(s), so avoid the extra cost and just get it done.

According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the smallest dog on record was a yorkshire terrier in Great Britain who, at the age of 2, weighed just 4 ounces. However, the chihuahua is generally the smallest breed of dog.

All basenjis six months old and older must obtain a license, and such a license is renewed each year for the life of your basenji. You will not need to obtain a rabies vaccination every year, but your license will state when the current rabies vaccination expires. Most DOG license agencies issue licenses from January to December, with renewal obtained every January, but again, that is up to local DOG licensing departments. Showing proof of spaying or neutering is only done once, as the licensing authority in your area will keep a copy of the document in their files for the life of the basenji.

The Saluki is represented in Sumarian carvings dated back to 7000 B.C. It is said that Whenever one sees the word "dog" in the Bible it means the Saluki, because the Saluki is believed to be among the oldest dog breeds.

Most pet owners are not aware that sometimes up to 90% of their DOG license fee goes toward local and community animal welfare programs and DOG pounds. DOG license fees also help to support local animal shelters, including the costs of medical care, food and bedding. Always ask your veterinarian or call your local animal control center to find out the laws pertaining to DOG licensing in your area. It's not a complicated, or expensive procedure, and serves to protect both your basenji and the community.

An American foxhound became one of the most amazing mothers in the dog world when she set a record for the largest litter of puppies in 1944. She had not one, not two, not even ten, but twenty-three puppies!

Part of the reason that basset hounds have such a unique look is that the British purposely bred basset hounds to have short legs, so that hunters could keep up with them. Unfortunate this has caused the breed to be prone to leg/joint problems.

Male Irish wolfhounds are usually at least 32 to 34 inches tall and females are usually around 30 inches tall. This makes the Irish wolfhound the tallest breed. Although a few other dogs, such as the great dane, come close to equalling that height.

While most dogs shed, poodles are actually incapable of shedding. That fact makes them excellent house pets, since they don't get the furniture covered in fur. Also, due to the nature of their fur and the fact that they do not shed, most people with dog allergies aren't allergic to poodles.
